Role Purpose
We are building a talent pool for future Product Management & Data Quality Specialist (Assistant Buyer) opportunities. This role is ideal for detail-oriented individuals passionate about products, data accuracy, and process improvement. You will play a key role in maintaining high-quality product information, supporting catalogue optimization, and partnering with teams to drive operational and commercial success.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, maintain, and update product catalog data throughout the product lifecycle.
Monitor product data accuracy and completeness across all systems.
Create, implement, and enforce product data standards and governance policies.
Develop and implement product data quality assurance processes.
Manage product lifecycle stages
Maintain and update product range listings and range synoptics.
Monitor market specificities and ensure appropriate stock allocation.
Implement and monitor promotional mechanisms to support range efficiency.
Ensure referencing and sourcing accuracy.
Support the Category Manager in preparing data for supplier negotiations.
Complete and maintain the Negotiation Book accurately and timeously.
Validate and monitor supplier franco agreements and replenishment modes.
Monitor contracts and invoicing in compliance with legal and accounting procedures.
Act as the daily point of contact for stores regarding product data and range-related topics.
Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders including Stores, Supply Chain, OmniCommerce, Merchandising, 1P, and 3P teams.
Collaborate with suppliers to ensure product data accuracy and completeness.
Communicate clearly, simply, and effectively using appropriate channels.
Collect and analyze customer feedback and product reviews to improve range efficiency.
Identify trends, risks, and opportunities through product data analysis.
Propose improvements to product typology allocation to enhance performance monitoring.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of the product range together with the Category Manager.
Contribute to a positive, collaborative, and values-driven working environment.
Champion and disseminate company values internally and externally.
Participate in cross-functional and company-wide projects within an area of expertise.
Qualification and Experience
Matric (Grade 12) or equivalent qualification
A relevant tertiary qualification in Supply Chain Management or related field.
At least 2 years of experience in product data management, catalog governance, or supply chain/product lifecycle roles.
Proven track record in data quality assurance and maintaining large product catalogs.
Experience collaborating with retail stores and suppliers on product data accuracy.
Exposure to commercial processes such as supplier agreements, invoicing compliance, and promotional mechanisms.
Prior involvement in cross-functional projects within merchandising, omni-commerce, or supply chain.
