Store Leader - Talent Pool
Role Purpose
As the Store Manager at Leroy Merlin, you will lead a large-format retail store spanning 10,000 to 13,000 square meters and manage a team of approximately 120 employees. This pivotal role combines strategic planning, operational excellence, and strong people leadership to drive overall store success. You will ensure the delivery of outstanding customer experiences, achieve key business objectives, and uphold the highest standards of efficiency, performance, and compliance
Key Responsibilities
Manage day-to-day store operations, ensuring smooth execution and alignment with company standards
Develop and implement strategic plans to achieve sales, profitability, and customer satisfaction targets
Maintain a clean, organised, and inspiring store environment that reflects Leroy Merlin’s brand values
Recruit, train, and develop a high-performing, collaborative team
Conduct regular performance reviews and support ongoing career development
Foster a culture of engagement, motivation, and continuous improvement
Analyse sales performance and implement strategies to drive results
Champion a customer-first culture with consistently high service standards
Use market trends and customer insights to identify growth opportunities
Oversee store P&L, including budgets, costs, and resource allocation
Monitor financial performance and implement corrective action where needed
Improve profitability through effective cost control and commercial initiatives
Maintain optimal stock levels while minimising shrinkage
Work closely with supply chain and merchandising teams to ensure stock availability
Conduct regular stock audits and ensure compliance with policies
Ensure full compliance with company policies, regulations, and local legislation
Implement and maintain strong health and safety standards across the store
Drive loss prevention initiatives to protect company assets
Act as a brand ambassador within the local community
Collaborate with marketing teams on campaigns and community initiatives
Build strong relationships with local stakeholders to strengthen brand presence
Qualifications and Experience
Grade 12 / Matric (essential)
Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Retail Management, or a related field (preferred)
5–8 years of retail management experience, including leading large teams and store operations
Proven ability to achieve sales targets and deliver strong results in a large-format retail environment
