HOD Supply Chain - Talent Pool
Role Purpose
The Head of Department (Supply Chain) leads end-to-end logistics operations, ensuring efficient merchandise flow, high inventory accuracy, and world-class order fulfilment. This role drives operational excellence, leadership, and strategic supply chain performance.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage end-to-end merchandise flow, including receiving, storage, and dispatch.
Ensure ≥98% compliance with merchandise handling procedures and ≥99% system and delivery accuracy.
Drive continuous improvement to enhance logistics performance and operational efficiency.
Plan and ensure stock availability for promotional campaigns and peak trading periods.
Optimise storage and stock flow to support sales growth and reduce stockouts.
Ensure fast, accurate order fulfilment with ≥99% order accuracy and SLA compliance.
Reduce delivery-related complaints and ensure efficient returns management.
Lead, coach, and develop teams, including recruitment, training, and performance management.
Manage workforce planning, scheduling, and ensure compliance with HR processes.
Oversee receiving, inventory, and outbound operations while meeting productivity targets.
Maintain safety standards, including zero critical incidents, 100% PPE compliance, and audit scores above 80%.
Manage inventory integrity, reduce shrinkage and costs, and support profitability and strategic initiatives.
Qualifications and Experience
Grade 12 / Matric (essential)
National Diploma in Supply Chain Management / Logistics / Operations Management / Industrial Engineering / Warehouse Management or related field (essential)
5+ years’ experience in supply chain, retail logistics, or warehouse management
Proven leadership of teams in a high-volume retail or distribution environment
Strong experience in inventory systems and logistics optimisation
Demonstrated ability to manage KPIs and operational performance
Strong analytical and problem-solving ability
