Payroll Officer
Role Purpose

This role involves ensuring that all employees are paid accurately and on schedule, while maintaining full compliance with statutory regulations. By supporting payroll operations and upholding confidentiality, you will contribute to a smooth, reliable payroll system that plays a vital role in the organisation's success.
Key Responsibilities
Process monthly payroll for all employees in accordance with company policies and applicable laws
Maintain and update employee payroll records, including leave, overtime, benefits, and deductions
Ensure accurate calculation of wages, bonuses, statutory contributions, and tax obligations
Handle payroll queries from employees and management promptly and professionally
Prepare and submit statutory reports such as PAYE, UIF, SDL, and COIDA
Reconcile payroll accounts and ensure data accuracy
Collaborate with HR and finance teams to ensure payroll aligns with staffing changes, benefits, and other HR initiatives
Maintain confidentiality of payroll information at all times
Stay updated on legislative changes affecting payroll and ensure compliance
Assist with year-end processes and audit preparations related to payroll
Qualifications & Experience
Relevant qualification such as a Diploma or Degree in Payroll, HR, Finance, or Accounting
Proven experience as a Payroll Officer or similar role, preferably in a corporate or retail environment
Strong knowledge of South African payroll legislation and statutory requirements
Proficiency in payroll software and MS Office, especially Excel
Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
Good communication skills and ability to handle sensitive information discreetly
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
